HOUSE BILLS

House Bill 804 (Rep. Jewel Williams)
Awards K-3 class size reduction grants to districts that are currently participating in federal class size reduction programs. To qualify, teachers must be involved in professional development to improve reading, writing and math instruction skills and districts must commence parental and community involvement plans. The bill also requires a study on the effectiveness of class size reduction.

House Bill 1288 (Rep. James Roebuck)
Provides for class size reduction for school districts where at least 35% of student qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Districts would be eligible to receive up to $580 per students to reduce K-3 class size to 17 students per teacher or 35 students per two teachers.


SENATE BILLS

Senate Bill 114 (Sen. Allyson Schwartz)
Provides a small class size incentive for qualifying districts

Senate Bill 115 (Sen. Allyson Schwartz)
Provides a small class size incentive for empowerment districts

Senate Bill 800 (Sen. Allyson Schwartz)
Provides for full-day kindergarten, K-3 class size reduction, and preschool. Districts where at least 35% of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch would be eligible to receive up to $580 per student to reduce class size to one teacher per 17 students or two teachers per 35 students. Districts would apply to PDE for funding to support these voluntary programs.
